Birds drink.

Birds like to drink too. Here are some birds drinking juice. Grandma Natty fed one bird. Opa fed another one.  Did you know that birds have tongues? This type of bird uses his tongue to drink the juice from the little cup. If you look very carefully,  you can see the bird’s tongue.

We like to drink from coconuts.

Have you ever had a drink from a coconut?  Coconuts do not grow in Boston or in California. They grow where it is very warm all year long. These are  coconut trees.

The coconuts grow high up in the tree.

This man cut open a coconut so Grandma Natty could drink the juice inside. It tastes good and is good for you.

Have you seen a pineapple growing?

Do you know what a pineapple is? Grandma Natty is holding a pineapple.    Pineapples  grow on plants.  Can you find the pineapple on the plant?

Bananas are good to eat!

Bananas are good to eat. Do you see Opa eating a banana? Bananas grow on a plant. Sometimes we call it a “Banana Tree” but it is really a big plant, not a tree.
Can you find the bananas on the banana plant?
When bananas are ripe, they will turn yellow.  Opa is holding a bunch of bananas. We call this a “hand” of bananas. Can you see why it is a “hand’?
